A lean and healthy body can be achieved through steady weight training. Aside from going to a gym to exercise there are also alternative venues and exercises that can be done that would break the cycle of gym training and inject a fresh air on your training program. Aside from being fun, these alternative, non-traditional workouts are also great in increasing your fitness level and achieving the physique that you want.

Here are 5 of the non-traditional workouts

1. Bodyweight Workouts – Do 15-340 minutes of bodyweight workouts like one-arm pushups, handstand pushups and/or one-legged squats at home if you cannot find the time to go to a gym. For better results, take only a little rest between sets and do pushup variations, bodyweight squats and abs exercises.

2. Wind and/or Hill Sprints – Running is one of the better ways to lose body fat and gain muscle since it involves most or all of the major muscle groups in the body. If you can find a track and field near you, or even a straight alley that has light or no traffic you can try an all-wind sprint in varying distances of 100, 75 and 50 yards. For hill sprints, like stairs sprints, run with as much speed as you can uphill and for your rest period, walk slowly down again. These sprints are great for working out all the major muscle groups and can also greatly increase your metabolism, fat burning hormones and your muscle mass.

3.     Kettlebell Training – Now what is exactly a kettlebell? A kettlebell looks exactly like a cannon ball with a grip that you use for weight training in replacement to dumbbells and/or barbells. Because of its unique weight distributuion, kettlebell is an excellent piece of fitness equipment that can help you achieve and bigger and stronger body. Kettlebells are also used by martial artists, military units and hard-core athletes. Kettlebells are a little bit expensive compared to barbells and dumbbells but they will be worth the price since they can produce results faster and more effectively than the conventional barbells and dumbbells.

4.     Ring Training – Ring training can be a little hard at first but once you get use to it, it is one of the most effective and fun training exercise. Ring training can be done by using portable rings that gymnast use. You can attach the straps to a high bar or a football goal crossbar. You can do ring push-ups, l-sits, ring pull-ups, horizontal body rows and a lot more ring training exercises that will not only tone your muscles and encourage them to grow but will also improve your ability to focus on your training exercise.


5.     Staircase Workouts – Whether you are in the office, a school, a library, a department store or a football stadium you can always find a flight of stairs that you could use to do stairs sprint. Along with pull-ups and pushups, stairs sprint can give you an amazing complete body workout that can alter your body in a positive way dramatically. Staircase workout has many benefits like increasing the body’s metabolism rate, build up your muscles and burn fat. Just do a light staircase workout by simply advancing up and down the stairway that would build your endurance or you can do an stairs sprint that would give you amazing result within months.
