Does Beer Help You Gain Weight
Drinking a couple of beers cannot be avoided at times. Whenever you are in a social gathering, a family reunion or simple out with your friends, more often than not, beers are served. I would not argue that drinking beer is a good social activity especially when you are trying to win your girlfriend’s brother on your side or out with a boss that drinks beer a lot but there are limits to how much you can drink in week so as not to gain fat.
An average size bottle of beer contains 150 calories. If you drink 2 beers this is already 300 calories and so on and so forth. Ingesting 1000 calories in a night by consuming 5 bottles of beer will be hard to lose the next day. And this is only if you are drinking once a week .
If you drink beer every day, like let us say an average of 3 bottles daily without exercising then you will probably end up like the rest of the beer monsters that you can often see in clubs wearing a fat gut, a love handle and a double chin.
Do the math, drinking 3 bottles of beer daily is ingesting 450 empty calories, in week this adds up to 3150 calories, in a month 12600 calories and in a year 151200 calories. This amount of empty calories you take in a year will result to a considerable amount of fats gained by your body annually. It will be obvious as your beer belly bloats.
Having a fat belly is said to be a sign of future heart diseases and other ailments related to obesity and being overweight.
You may have noticed in the previous paragraphs that I put the adjective ‘empty’ right before the word calories. This is true because even though the calories in beer has some nutritional value it is very minimal that instead of doing good to your body it does harm.
In conclusion, if you are wanting to lose weight, avoid drinking beer as much as possible or drink only in small amounts that will not offset your fitness program. There are always other choices when out on a social gathering. Instead of drinking beer grab a glass of wine and hold on to it until the party ends. Also, a glass or two of wine a day is said to help improve blood circulation.
